Kentucky back on top? Auburn or Tennessee to repeat? And some surprise teams. Your 2018-2019 SEC Basketball Preview

The SEC is coming off a record season in men’s basketball, sending eight teams (Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas A&M) to the NCAA Tournament last year. Upstarts such as Auburn and Tennessee look to prove that last season wasn’t a fluke, while Kentucky looks to defend their SEC championship title as the best team in the conference.  

The Final Stretch. What Auburn Soccer will face the rest of 2018.

The Auburn Soccer team has bounced back from a rough stretch of matches which they went 0-3-1 in with two hard fought 1-0 wins. Their win at Missouri gave head coach Karen Hoppa her 300th career win. Auburn is now up to #21 in the RPI ranking which is a determining factor for NCAA Tournament hosts. Let’s take a look at what Auburn will face down the final stretch of the season.

OPINION: The Wheels Have Fallen Off The Gus Bus in 2018

Gus Malzahn is in his sixth season as Auburn’s head coach. His record coming into the Tennessee game: 49-24. To the casual college football fan, that would be an excellent record and wouldn’t warrant a call to the fictional hot seat. However, with an embarrassing loss to a Tennessee team Saturday that had not won a SEC game since 2016, it’s time for Gus Malzahn’s hot seat to be scorching like a thousand suns. 

Chaos at all levels. What Auburn has to do and needs to happen to even dream of the College Football Playoffs.

The Auburn Tigers suffered their second loss of the season on the road to Mississippi State which dropped them to #21 in both the Coaches and AP Poll. This puts a huge dent in Auburn’s playoff hopes. Many fans and experts are counting out the Tigers. The chances are slim, but there certainly is a path to the playoff; Auburn just needs a lot of help.

Auburn University, Auburn Athletics and the City of Auburn are going to make history this Thursday and WEGL will be there to deliver on the live experience.  Starting at 10 a.m. and ending 4 p.m., Campus Recreation will be hosting a student 3-on-3 tournament, and WEGL 91.1 FM will be live with the broadcast of the tournament with play-by-play and color commentary for all the matchups.
