The Tigers dropped their eighth straight vs the Tide in a lopsided affair, 88-57, in an afternoon where for the first time in SEC history all seven women’s road teams walked away with victories.
AUBURN, Ala. - Surrounded by a sea of orange, the Tigers had all eyes waiting to see if they could a compete in a ranked matchup against Arkansas after struggling through the first part of SEC play. The question being asked was surely answered right away. Wendell Green Jr. would collect the ball from the tip-off. As the crowd drew silent, the junior moved from the left of the floor to the top of the key where he would launch a three-pointer on the opening possession. He hit the floor as time stood still at Neville Arena where everyone locked eyes on the ball as it sore through the air. A roar of a tiger erupted from the crowd for what seemed like the first time in forever. Green Jr. would go on to make the shot and convert the four point play as Auburn danced their way to a 72-59 victory over the Razorbacks.
A solid performance from Aicha Coulibaly was not enough for Auburn to generate momentum in their biggest test of the season.
Auburn basketball has been victorious in its past 26 contests inside Neville Arena, and basketball experts and analysts believe that their home court advantage is one of the best in all of college basketball. The crowd was the loud, the band was playing at its best. Everyone was waiting for one moment. Honesty Scott-Grayson would show off her best spin move and battle against two defenders to draw the foul. She would step to the line; Neville Arena drew silent to the point a pen dropping could be heard throughout the building. Scott-Grayson would shoot and make the free throw. The moment everyone had been waiting for, Scott-Grayson’s 31st point of the night, a new career high. The senior would captivate all eyes in the arena with her play as she led the Tigers to a 79-63 win over North Carolina A&T for their fifth straight victory.
