WEGL had the absolute pleasure of conducting an on-site interview with dubstep legend, Borgore, earlier this month at the third annual Shaky Beats Music Festival held in Atlanta, Georgia. Borgore is a man of many talents, and this is evident from the minute you hear him live. Borgore bends and exceeds any fan expectations through his ability to curate multiple genres into his sets as well as through his multi-faceted discography. We had the chance to catch up with Borgore about his newest jazz release, Adventures in Time, and what he’s got planned for the rest of the year.

I met with a friend over spring break, one I hadn’t seen in almost a year. It was a spontaneous thing, our meeting; what began as a short “do u wanna brunch @ the depot on fri” text became an impromptu sleepover in her dad’s basement, where we didn’t crash until the sun came up, despite the fact that I had driven for two hours straight on a whim, directly following a shift at work, to make this happen.
Yesterday, February 26th, we celebrate the birthday of the infamous Johnny Cash. Born in 1932, Cash was destined to be one of the world’s top musicians of his time and his legacy in music lives on today. Some of his chart-toppers include “I Walk the Line” (1957), “Hurt” (2002), “Ring of Fire” (1963), and my personal favorite, “Folsom Prison Blues” (1957). We all know Cash as an influential father of country music, but I’m writing this article to tell you a little bit about the legend that you may not know yet.
I have a terrible backlog on my hands. There are at least 20 unread books on my shelves and twice that many on my bucket list (or there would be, if I faced my mortality and made one.) My film backlog is even worse. I have yet to see "Blade Runner: 2049," because I have been waiting for the past eight months to watch the original first.
This past Saturday night The Lone Bellow performed in Opelika at the John Emerald Distillery. The band members led the audience through a range of emotions throughout the night from bluegrass stomp to somber, serious melodies that showcased the band members clustered together around one microphone eliciting complete silence from the audience in a manner I’ve never experienced before in seeing live music.
This week’s featured DJ is Tim Dodge, a reference librarian at the Ralph Brown Draughon Library. At WEGL, we know him by his on-air name of Dr. Hepcat. Dr. Hepcat has been a part of WEGL since May of 1998, hosting his show, The Golden Oldies, each week since then. He’s a big deal around the station—he’s been around longer than anyone on staff or any of the other DJs. I had the awesome chance to interview the legend himself, and our conversation went a little something like this:

This week, I had the chance to talk to Romano Jesus, a senior from Denver, Colorado. He studies Communications, and his show, The 52-80, comes on every Wednesday night at 9PM.
Celebrate Halloween one day late by listening to the spookiest playlist ever dooted
Welcome to the first of WEGL's weekly themed playlists. To celebrate the beginning of the fall season, our inaugural playlist is the aural equivalent of cool breezes and autumn foliage.
It's not every day you get to see your favorite band live from the front row.
Coming October 2017!
