Walk off Wednesday: Annalea Adams sends a drive into the night to walk off the South Alabama Jaguars

AUBURN, Ala.- The Auburn Tigers claw themselves to a comeback against the Jaguars in a catfight. Anna Wohlers and Annalea Adams lead Auburn to victory with three clutch homers.

Hailey Rainey got the start against South Alabama, Rainey cruised through the first inning, with three straight outs. In the bottom half of the inning the Tigers left the bases loaded to keep the game scoreless.

In the top of the second, Rainey found herself in a bases-loaded jam, but couldn’t escape the inning. SJ Geurin came in and let up a bases clearing single that put Auburn down five against the Jaguars early.

In the bottom of the third, Anna Wohlers had something to say about the five run deficit as she smashed a two-run homer to center field.

The Jaguars answered right back their next time up to bat, as Olivia Bransetter drove in Caitlyn Gavin to bring South Alabama back up by four runs. Auburn didn’t answer back in the bottom of the fourth and kept the game at 6-2.

SJ Geurin saw only three batters in the top of the fifth as the bats for South Alabama cooled down and the game's momentum shifted toward the side of the Tigers. Anna Wohlers came up to bat with the bases juiced and drove to center again to tie the game.

The sixth inning was sedated compared to the slugfest that had ensued in the previous innings, with the Jaguars and the Tigers both not scoring any runs.

Geurin kept her fire burning with two strikeouts in the top of the seventh and kept the game knotted at 6-6 going into the bottom of the seventh. Annalea Adams put the final nail in the coffin as she sent a drive to center and walked off the field victorious.

Auburn will face the Texas Longhorns in Austin on Friday. The game will be broadcast at 4 p.m. on WEGL 91.1 FM and SECN+.
