Trouble in Texas: Auburn drops the final game of a three-game set , swept

AUSTIN, Texas - The Auburn Tigers were put away in five innings Sunday, in a 13-2 Texas Longhorns victory.

Nelia Peralta came up to the plate and smacked a two-run homer to center field, bringing Auburn to an early 2-0 lead. SJ Geurin received the start in today's game and took care of business early, allowing no runs in the bottom of the first.

Three up and three down for Auburn in the top of the second, and the bats only got colder from there. In the bottom half of the inning the Longhorns put up a nine spot on Auburn's defense to take a 9-2 lead.

Abbey Smith, Icess Tresvik and Nelia Peralta went down in order for Auburn and Teagan Kavan, the pitcher for Texas, recorded a groundout, flyout and a strikeout, all in the same inning. The Longhorns tacked on one more run in the bottom of the third with an RBI single off the bat of Katie Stewart.

After retiring nine straight, Kavan allowed her first base runner since the Peralta home run off of a AnnaLea Adams single. In the bottom half of the inning the Longhorns added three more runs and extended the lead to 13-2.

Kavan struck out all three Auburn batters in the top of the fifth to take a 13-2 victory and improve her record to 14-1. With this loss Auburn Softball remains winless in SEC play.

Auburn will face the Troy Trojans in Troy on Wednesday. The game will be broadcast at 6 p.m. on WEGL 91.1 FM and ESPN+.
