TROY, Ala. - Auburn (22-11) overcame Troy (21-13) by a score of 12-4 for a second time this season, this time adding the first road win in their midweek matchup with the Trojans. What was a close game for a while was eventually broken open in the fifth by Auburn where they gained a lead they would hold for the rest of the contest.
Icess Tresvik got the start in the circle for Auburn, her fourth of the year. She went two innings, giving up just one run and striking out one in her quick night. SJ Geurin came in as relief and went the rest of the way, giving up four runs over five innings of work in the Tigers' victory.
A 12-run night marked the second time this season that Auburn has put up double-digit runs on the Trojans this season. The Auburn offense came from a variety of players including Icess Tresvik who was three for four at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. Aubrie Lisenby had three hits, almost half her season total coming into the night as Rose Roach was two of four at the plate with three hits and Amelia Lech went two of three at the plate for the Tigers.
The win on the road is a huge momentum boost for an Auburn team that had failed to win on the road this season in their seven attempts, this win comes at a crucial point heading into a weekend series at home with the number four team in the country Florida Gators where Auburn will look to record their first SEC wins of the season currently sitting winless in their nine league matchups.
Also worth noting was Georgia Lessman, who is typically used as a pinch runner for Auburn, got her first plate appearance of the year recording the first hit of her career after going hitless last season at Iowa only to follow it up with another single the seventh to finish her night two of two at the plate with three runs scored.
Auburn is back in action at Jane B. Moore field Friday night for a weekend series with the number four ranked Florida Gators first pitch at 6 PM central.
