AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 25 Auburn Tigers will host the No. 24 Troy Trojans on Tuesday and the North Alabama Lions on Wednesday, as they look to gain momentum in midweek.
The Tigers will have their first ranked matchup of the season when they welcome the Trojans to town, giving senior left-hander Carson Myers the start on the mound. Myers pitched in the season opener, giving up no runs, one hit and striking out three in three innings of work. The Trojans will go with Adam Falinski, a right-hander with a 9.00 ERA on the young season.
The Tigers will turn to Andreas Alvarez in their Wednesday night matchup against North Alabama, a freshman right-hander from Largo, FL who will be making his collegiate debut. Ranked as the No. 8 RHP in Florida out of high school, the Tigers are expecting big things from Alvarez this season. The Lions start left-handed freshman Reese Young, who will be making his debut along with Alvarez, as the Lions will look to pull off the midweek shocker in Auburn.
Auburn is coming off a series win against Holy Cross to start the season, winning the rubber match 14-6 on Sunday. After a cold start offensively in the first two games, the Tigers bats exploded for 16 hits, including home runs from first baseman Cooper McMurray and infielder Chase Fralick to help the Tigers secure their first series win of the season.
Tigers catcher Ike Irish has been a prominent name across both national awards and preseason draft boards. The D1Baseball Pre-Season All-American led Auburn in most offensive categories last season, he has proven to be one of the most feared bats in the entire country. The Tigers will undoubtedly look to rely on his production throughout the 2025 campaign if they hope to reach Omaha at the end of the season.
Troy will be leaning on star catcher Brooks Bryan, who led the Trojans in RBIs in the 2024 campaign. The junior took home first-team all Sun Belt honors last season and is projected to be drafted within the first three rounds of this year’s MLB draft. The Tigers pitchers will have their hands full in this one, as they will try to quiet Bryan’s explosive bat.
North Alabama is coming off a series win against Army, having taken the final two games of the series. The Lions are coming off a 2024 campaign that saw them finish 18-35-1, but third-year head coach Jad Prachniak hopes to flip that script, and an upset at Plainsman Park would do just that.
First pitch between the Tigers and Trojans is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, while the Tigers and Lions face off at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Both games will be televised on SECN+ and you can listen along on the Auburn Sports Network.
