Auburn to host Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament

AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 19 Auburn Tigers will host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, the McNeese State Cowgirls and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament.

The tournament will consist of No. 19 Auburn, Rutgers, McNeese State and Louisiana, creating some interesting matchups and enticing games that will almost certainly bring a lot of fireworks.

Auburn will return to Jane B. Moore Field after a successful trip to Huntsville, AL in the Rocket City Showcase, a tournament in which they amassed a 3-1 record. The Tigers have had an impressive start to their 2025 campaign, reaching a 14-1 record, their best since 2018. The Tigers are led by first-year head coaching duo Chris and Kate Malveaux, bringing a new and improved offense to the plains.

Auburn will look for their star pitcher, SJ Geurin, to continue her workhorse ways. The Oklahoma transfer has accumulated a 9-0 record with a 1.23 ERA in 12 appearances. Geurin has thrown two complete games and one complete game shutout and earned two saves on the season. The Tigers will certainly rely on her production this weekend, as they have for most of the early part of the season.

Rutgers enters the weekend with a 7-9 record but is coming off a 6-4 win over UC Riversdale. The Scarlet Knights are led by stellar freshman pitcher Ella Harrison, who has boasted a 2.63 ERA in 53.1 IP. After a rough start to the 2025 campaign, the Scarlet Knights will look to gain some momentum as they gear up for conference play.

The McNeese State Cowgirls roll onto the plains with a 10-5 record and are coming off a 4-0 loss to Ole Miss in Oxford. The Cowgirls will be looking to showcase their offensive firepower this weekend, as multiple Cowgirls have batting averages over the .350 mark, including utility player Samantha Mundine and true freshman Kassidy Chance eclipsing a .400 average. The Cowgirls from Lake Charles, LA will look to gain some marquee victories this weekend, and they will have their chance Friday evening when they take on No. 19 Auburn.

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns have amassed an 8-4 record and ride a two-game win streak into Auburn, having bested Houston and Kansas City in Lafayette last week. The Ragin’ Cajuns will also look to showcase their explosive bats, as they have five players over the .400 mark, including senior outfielder Kayla Falterman who leads the team with a .479 average. The Ragin’ Cajuns hope their offensive prowess will be enough to take some wins back down to the bayou.

The first pitch for the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament is set for 11 a.m. on Friday between Rutgers and Louisiana. Auburn will play in their first game of the tournament against the Scarlet Knights at 3 p.m. on Friday, and will turn around and play McNeese State for a doubleheader. You can listen to the Tigers play on WEGL 91.1 FM or the Auburn Sports Network.
