No. 2 Auburn visits Texas for first SEC road contest

AUSTIN, Texas - The Auburn Tigers (13-1, 1-0 SEC) travel to Austin, Texas, Tuesday night to face off with the Texas Longhorns (11-3, 0-1 SEC) in SEC road opener.

Auburn is coming off a win in their SEC opener against Missouri 84-68, the 213th win in head coach Bruce Pearl’s Auburn career, which is tied for most in school history. A win in Austin would move him to sole possession of first place for most wins as Auburn’s head coach. Auburn will also look to add another Quad One win to its already impressive resume, as Texas is ranked No. 42 in the NET rankings, marking this as a tough test for the battle-proven Tigers.

Auburn is led by their All-American center Johni Broome, who averages 18.6 points per game to go along with 11.1 rebounds per game. Broome’s stellar play has not gone unnoticed, as he is the front-runner for National Player of the Year. Broome will look to continue his terrific play in Austin on Tuesday night, as he will undoubtedly be at the focal point of Texas’ defensive gameplan.

Texas comes into Tuesday night’s matchup after a loss to their bitter rival No. 13 Texas A&M 80-60 on Saturday. However, the Longhorns return to the Moody Center for this marquee matchup with the No. 2 Tigers, a place where they are 8-1 on the year, with their only home loss of the season came against the two-time defending national champion UConn Huskies. Still, the Moody Center will certainly be packed full and ready to go as the Longhorns try to get a huge win for their tournament resume.

Tipoff for the Tigers and Longhorns is set for 8 p.m. Tuesday and will be broadcast on ESPN2 and the Auburn Sports Network.
