AUBURN, Ala. – So far this season the Auburn Tigers (9-8, 0-4) have yet to win a conference game through their first four. They will look to get things back on track tonight with a statement win by upsetting the Texas Longhorns (16-2) on Greek night, behind a lively Neville Arena.
Texas is ranked seventh in the nation with a 3-1 conference record losing only to the reigning national champions South Carolina. The Longhorns are headlined by 6-foot-1 sophomore Madison Booker who is leading the team with 14.1 points per game while shooting the lights out from deep. Defensively they are led by Rori Harmon with 2.6 steals per game and Taylor Jones with 1.7 blocks per game, both rank in the top five in the SEC respectively.
The Tigers will lean heavily on Deyona Gaston for offensive production. Gaston is averaging over 20 points per game and shooting over 50 percent from the field and behind the arc. Gaston and the offense will need special nights to keep up with the Longhorns who are fifth in the nation with 88.2 points per contest.
Another big key for coach Johnnie Harris and the Tigers will be controlling the glass. So far this season the Tigers are averaging just under 35 rebounds per game, dead last in the SEC and seven less than the formidable Texas Longhorns.
The game will be live on SEC Network+ at 6 p.m. CT or can be listened to anywhere via the Auburn Athletics App and Auburn Sports Network.
