West Coast trip continues for Tigers with Golden Bears in Berkeley

BERKELEY, Calif. - After an early 3-1 start, Auburn gets a chance to avenge a home loss from last season as they continue their West Coast road trip. The Tigers take on the California Golden Bears in Berkeley on Friday.

Auburn is coming off a competitive 68-70 loss up in Eugene against the 23rd ranked Oregon Ducks on Wednesday in which their comeback efforts fell just short and gets the chance to play another ex PAC-12 opponent in Cal.

Arkansas transfer Taliah Scott looks to continue her impressive campaign after draining seven three pointers in Eugene on Wednesday. Scott led the team with 28 points and is averaging 27 points per game so far this season.

Texas transfer Deyona Gaston has also been a perfect addition for the Tigers this season, averaging 21.3 points, 9.8 boards, and almost two blocks per game for Auburn on the young season. She looks to get back to doing what she does best after adding 14 points and six rebounds at Oregon.

Coach Johnnie Harris is still searching for her 50th coaching victory in Berkeley after the loss against the Ducks. Despite the loss, the Tigers are still looking rather amazing to open up the season, with the team being in the top 10 in scoring margin and top 20 in field goal percentage in all of Division 1. The most important part of Auburn’s offense has been the three ball. They have been en fuego from the arc lately, shooting 47.4 percent as a team, good enough for third in the country.

The Golden Bears are 5-0 and coming off a win against Grambling State. Cal has four scorers averaging double digits, led by Lulu Twidale’s 17.6 points per outing so far. Twidale is shooting a blazing 50% from three this season on 7.2 shots from the arc per game. Ionna Krimili is second up for the Golden Bears, averaging 16.4 points while also shooting 48.6% from the arc. Kayla Williams and Marta Suarez also average in the double digits for Cal while also being snipers from three so far as well.

Auburn looks to get back on track in what should be a battle of two great shooting teams Friday night Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. CST. You can listen in on the Auburn Sports Network or stream the game live on ACC Network.
