EUGENE, Ore. - The Auburn Tigers have started their season 3-0 for the third year in a row. However, they will face their first real test as they travel to Eugene, Oregon, to face the No. 23 Ducks.
So far this season, the Tigers have been dominant, winning each of their first three games by 30 or more points. Auburn has been spreading the scoring responsibilities, with four players averaging 10 or more points.
Arkansas transfer Taliah Scott burst onto the scene in her Auburn debut against Little Rock. She drained eight 3-pointers, tying an Auburn record, on her way to scoring 26 points. She also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds.
Freshman Jordan Hunter also shined against Little Rock. Making the most of her time on the court, she went a perfect 7/7 from the field, scoring 15 points. Hunter is demonstrating why she was the No. 1 overall prospect in Alabama.
Head coach Johnnie Harris will be looking for her 50th career win as a head coach. Harris has gotten the Tigers started on the right track so far this season. The Tigers currently have a 53.3-point margin of victory average, the best in the NCAA.
On the other side of the court, the Oregon Ducks are 5-0 to start the season. On Monday, the Ducks decisively defeated Grand Canyon University. The game felt like it was over before it started as Oregon jumped out to an early 20-0 lead.
Graduate student Peyton Scott is starting the season off strong, leading the Oregon Ducks with 11.6 points per game. A big contributor to that is her proficiency from beyond the arc, as Scott is currently shooting 43 percent from deep. The Ducks as a whole have shot the long ball exceptionally well this season at 35.7 percent.
It should be a competitive matchup in Eugene as the Tigers tip off at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20. You can catch the game streaming on B10+ or listen in on the Auburn Sports Network.
