AUBURN, Ala. -- The Auburn Tigers (3-0) will look to continue their winning streak against the in-state Troy Trojans (2-1) Tuesday September 2nd at 7:00pm to start the Plainsman Invitational. Auburn will look to build on their .221 hitting percentage and 2.7 blocks per set to start the Plainsman Invitational on the right foot.
Auburn is coming off the War Eagle Invitational in which the Tigers swept both UNA and Georgia Southern on August 30. The Tigers would also win 3-1 vs Wofford the next day. Auburn was lead by both Madison Scheer and Bel Zimmerman with 16 kills apiece during the Wofford game, as the Tigers had a team kill percentage of .271.
Troy has gotten themselves back on track after losing their season opener in a sweep to Maryland. The Trojans won their second game of the day after the loss, beating New Hampshire 3-1, and grabbing a win over SEC opponent LSU in Baton Rouge 3-2. Troy is led by Tori Hester who leads the Trojans with 68 total kills in the first three games. Hester is coming off a 442-kill season.
Digs will also be an important stat line for the rest of the year. In the sweep against UNA, the Tigers had 72 total digs, the most in a three-set match since 2007 when Auburn had 76 against Ole Miss. While in the win versus Wofford had a total of 81 in four sets, almost tying the high of the 2023 season of 82 in a five-set matchup against Arkansas.
