AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 5 Auburn Tigers (8-0-1) welcome the Florida Gators (3-1-5) as the SEC season is now in full swing for the second match in conference play. Auburn looks to get their first SEC win this season and surpass their 8-7-5 record from last season in a big match at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Auburn is coming off a disappointing 2-2 draw Thursday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex vs Vanderbilt. The Commodores two goals marked the first goals that Auburn has conceded this entire season. The draw marks the only blemish on Auburn’s record and goal differential this year. Auburn has allowed two goals while scoring 32 themselves.
Florida on the other hand has not had a great start, yet they only have one loss on the season so far, being their 3-0 loss to 4th ranked Florida State on Sept. 15. The Gators are coming off a scoreless draw at No. 19 Kentucky on Thursday. Florida sits with 10 goals on the season to six conceded.
Vera Blom has the most goals for Florida this season with three on eight shots. Of her eight shots, six have been on goal for the Gators. Other names to mention for Florida are Delaney Tellex and Lena Bailey, both with two goals apiece. Tellex has taken 11 shots, with five on goal while Bailey has taken 15, with eight being on target. The Gator goalkeeper that has started all nine games this season is Alexa Goldberg, who has 11 saves with three goals conceded on the year.
