Auburn looks to extend home dominance in midweek matchup against Florida A&M

Auburn is set to complete its home midweek schedule with a game against Florida A&M on Tuesday at Plainsman Park. The matchup begins at 3 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on the Auburn Sports Network. It can also be streamed digitally on SEC Network+.

Auburn head coach Butch Thompson anticipates a challenging game against the Rattlers and is focused on his team's ongoing development.

“Really, that continued soul searching and hunting for moments and building this club and getting into a different gear is something we’re after,” Thompson said. “Tomorrow is a big day for us to get right back out on the field.”

The Tigers have thrived in midweek games this season, holding an 8-1 record and outscoring opponents 74-30. During midweek games, the team's pitching staff has recorded a 3.19 ERA with 95 strikeouts in 79.0 innings.

At home, Auburn is 12-3 against non-conference competition this season and 17-4 overall. The team is known for its potent offense, outscoring non-conference opponents 193-94. Auburn's starting pitchers recently achieved a 2.70 ERA in a series against Mississippi State.

Junior right-hander Chase Allsup (1-3, 7.46 ERA) is set to take the mound for Auburn on Tuesday, making his first midweek start since April 11 at Georgia Tech.

Catcher Cale Stricklin has played a crucial role in the Tigers' lineup recently, catching six of the last seven games and hitting .375 with three runs, a double, and five RBI during that span.

Auburn is one of 11 teams in the nation, and one of only two in the Southeastern Conference, to achieve at least 60 homers and 60 stolen bases this season, so the Tigers will look to utilize those asects of the game to its advantage.

The Tigers hold a 5-0 all-time series lead over Florida A&M and have outscored the Rattlers 55-23 in those games. The last matchup saw Auburn score 18 runs against the Rattlers last season.

Florida A&M enters the week with a 20-19 overall record, leading the SWAC with a 15-3 record in league play. The Rattlers have been on a roll, winning four straight weekend series.

The Rattlers' offense is anchored by Ty Jackson, who is hitting .373 with six home runs. On the mound, Florida A&M's staff holds a 5.83 ERA, with 163 walks and 261 strikeouts in 324.1 innings.

The Tigers aim to maintain their home dominance against the Rattlers and secure another victory to finish their midweek slate on a high note.
