AUBURN, AL - NOVEMBER 30 - Head Coach Johnnie Harris during the game between the Auburn Tigers and the Clemson Tigers at Neville Arena in Auburn, AL on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023.

Auburn extends win streak to four

Auburn (7-2) made a road trip to Little Rock Arkansas to visit the Trojans (0-7). The Tigers pulled out a comfortable 13-point win with a 58-45 final score. The win was the first time since the 18-19 season that the Tigers won back-to-back games on the road. This being their final non-conference road game, a win was important for morale as they come back for a five-game homestand that stretches to January 4 when they host Tennessee to open SEC play.

Head Coach Johnnie Harris made her return to Little Rock as she was an assistant on the team's staff in 1999-2001. Savannah Scott also made the return to her home state in Sunday night's win.

"Lots of family and friends," Harris said. "Scottie had her family and her high school team, her church, my church, so just a lot. It was great."

12 players saw at least some action for the Tigers tonight as they visited an opponent that had no wins coming into the night. Honesty Scott-Grayson led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points as they only put up 58 well below their season average.

“Honesty's just special.” Harris Said after the win “She got knocked around there a little bit, but I was glad to see her finish. And she finished with some toughness."

The Tiger's defense played well tonight despite only one block from JaMya Mingo-Young who also led the game in assists. They had eight steals and held the Trojans to 43 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc. The Tigers controlled the game from start to finish allowing them to pull out a win despite not having an explosive night from the offense.

"I thought (Mingo-Young) did a good job of running our team,” Head Coach Johnnie Harris had to say postgame “getting the ball where it needed to be, Just played her heart out.”

Tayle Collins led the team with eight rebounds four of which were offensive giving the team a second chance on the offensive end of the court. She added six points to her night as she played 33 minutes in the win.

Auburn’s free throw shooting woos began to take an upward turn as they shot 66 percent tonight going 10-15 from the line.

This was a good game for the Tigers to really evaluate the squad after having played some this season they had 12 players get minutes as coach Johnnie Harris likes to keep fresh legs in the game and give the opponent different looks

The Trojans have played the 45th most difficult schedule nationally leading to an 0-6 record as they've played four SEC opponents and one from the Big 12. The Trojans put up a fight as Jaiyah Harris-Smith led them in all major categories posting a game-high 16 points with five rebounds and three assists.
