Auburn, AL: The Tigers are back on the road this weekend for their second SEC road series of the year to take on the #3 ranked Florida Gators. Auburn enters this matchup with a record of 17-7-1 while the Gators hold an impressive record of 22-4, while also currently being on a four game winning streak. The Tigers have struggled so far this season, both in conference play and on the road, having only won once at an away site and only two games in SEC play, with both coming against the Georgia Bulldogs.
This will be a tough matchup to try and turn the Tigers luck in SEC play around. After being swept two weekends ago in Fayetteville, Auburn will have its hands full in Gainesville with one of the best teams in all of collegiate baseball. The Florida Gators lead the nation in hits, tallying up 296 while also having the second most runs (260) and home runs (61) in all of college baseball.
For pitchers this weekend, Auburn will start, Will Cannon (2-0, 2.29 ERA) on Friday, John Armstrong (5-0, 3.91 ERA) on Saturday and finish out the series with Tommy Vail (2-1, 3.57 ERA) on Sunday. Florida will utilize Brandon Sproat (4-0, 3.60 ERA) on Friday, Hurston Waldrep (4-1, 4.78 ERA) on Saturday and Jac Caglianone (3-0, 3.41 ERA) on Sunday.
“We’re excited to get what we think is our best lineup back, and now we’re trying to couple that with what he think is our best setup going into a tough environment,” said Auburn head coach Butch Thompson on this weekends matchup with the number three ranked Gators.
The Tigers will take on the Gators at 5:30 PM CST on both Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s game will start at 12:00 PM CST. All games will be shown on SEC Network+.
