The Auburn Tigers (22-9, 1-2 SEC) picked up a 4-2 win over the Weber State Wildcats in the first game of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Classic, but it was all downhill from there as they were not able to pick up another win.
Shelby Lowe started the first game for Auburn and picked up the win. Mandy Johnson took the loss for Weber State.
Both teams scored three runs each in the second inning, Denver Bryant's home run in the seventh inning put Auburn over the top, giving the Tigers a 4-2 victory.
Auburn faced off against the Northwestern Wildcats in the second game on Friday. Maddie Penta started for Auburn and ended up with the loss, Danielle Williams got the win for the Wildcats.
Similar to the first game, both teams scored one run each in the third inning. The Wildcats scored a run in the seventh inning to pick up the win.
"We faced a great pitcher today, and we battled at the plate," said head coach Mickey Dean. "We need to continue to play cleaner softball. Our mental mistakes were the difference in today's game."
Auburn faced off against Northwestern again on Saturday. Shelby Lowe started for Auburn, but Maddie Penta ended up with the loss. Lauren Boyd ended up with the win for Northwestern.
The game was tied at two heading into the fourth inning. Auburn held a 5-4 lead heading into the seventh inning, but Jordyn Rudd hit a two-run homer to walk it off for Northwestern.
Auburn's worst game of the weekend came Saturday night against the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners. Annabelle Wildra took the loss for Auburn and Jordy Ball picked up the win for the Sooners.
Auburn was unable to generate any offense or effective defense, losing 14-0 by way of mercy rule after five innings.
Sunday was not much better for Auburn, falling to Oklahoma once again. Maddie Penta ended up with the loss for the Tigers and Alex Storako got the win for the Sooners.
Auburn jumped out in front early thanks to a Nelia Peralta home run in the first inning.
The Sooners took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning and never gave it back, winning the game 7-1.
"We weren't able to make adjustments at the plate," said head coach Mickey Dean. "That kept us from staying in the game longer. Plate adjustments on top of our defense is going to be areas of focus as we head into next week."
Auburn will be back in action at Jane B. Moore Field this weekend for the Tiger's first home SEC series against the Missouri Tigers. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
