A Midnight Cry For Help: Auburn Volleyball Takes Down Texas A&M 3-1

Auburn, AL - In a crucial match for the Tigers, Auburn hosted the Texas A&M Aggies in game one of two in the weekend series and were able to protect home court, winning the match 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21).

The first set was a fight to the end, with eventually the Tigers taking the set over A&M 25-22. The Aggies committed four service errors and eight attack errors and were unable to find a way to win the first set. Auburn had 11 kills with two service aces and despite occurring 11 attacking errors, the Tigers was able to find a way to come out with a 1-0 lead.

The second set was more of the same with Auburn winning the set over Texas A&M 25-22, the same score as it was in the first set. Auburn had a much cleaner set in the second with only five attacking errors to go along with their 11 kills. For A&M, it was more of the same in the second set as it was in the first, with three service errors as well as 11 attack errors. Auburn let A&M stay in the set near the end, but eventually finished it off to win set 2.

With the game on the line, it was Texas A&M who were able to fight back and take set three 25-22, the third straight set tonight with that same score line. Auburn stayed in this set for a long time, but in the end, the eight attack errors and four service errors proved too costly for the Tigers. The Aggies had 12 kills with a .276 hitting percentage and found a way to avoid the sweep.

In the fourth set, the Tigers were able to come back after the third set loss to take the set and the game with a 25-21 victory in set four over the Aggies. With a .343 hitting percentage and 16 kills in the set, the Auburn attack was able to overpower Texas A&M and come out with a victory.

The Tigers will be back in Neville Arena tomorrow afternoon to take on the Texas A&M Aggies once again in Neville Arena. The match starts at 4 PM and can be found on the SEC Network + or over the air on WEGL 91.1 FM.
