"This is a really good Alabama team, the best in their history. It's a veteran group that is very talented and playing with a lot of confidence. We know they'll certainly challenge us, but we look forward to it, and we can't wait to show what we're made of in front of a loud, energized crowd," said Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa.
This Thursday, October 26th, for the last time in 2022 the Auburn Tigers (6-5-6 SEC: 2-5-2) will play inside the Auburn Soccer Complex. To end their season with a winning record they must get through the number one team not only in the SEC but the nation in the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (16-1-1 SEC: 9-0-0).
Although pride is always on the line in the Iron Bowl no matter what sport it is, it will be all the two teams will be playing for as the Tide have their spot locked down as first in the SEC championship in Pensacola, while Auburn will be unable to break into the top ten to qualify for Pensacola.
Auburn will have five seniors taking the field for the last time including Brooke Berdan, M.E. Craven, Sabrina McNeil, Grace Sklopan, and Hailey Whitaker.
Auburn will once again be relying on Junior goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska to have a good game as so far the squad has only had one game in which their opponent scored more than one goal.
Alabama will be looking to go undefeated in SEC play becoming the first team to do so since South Carolina in 2016. In order to do so they will look toward Riley Mattingly Parker who is the Tide’s top goal scorer at 12.
Auburn will be looking to stun No. 1 Alabama at 7:30 pm inside the Auburn soccer complex, the game will be broadcasted live from WEGL 91.1 FM on the radio and on our website.
