A day of clear weather made for a fantastic second night of Hangout 2022.
Halsey, GRiZ, Illenium, and Leon Bridges shared top billing on day two. Unfortunately, Doja Cat was initially set to perform in GRiZ's place, but had to pull out due to medical complications, leaving Hangout to scramble for a new headliner.
GRiZ made what was a terrible blow to the lineup into one of the highlights of the night, if not the weekend. The EDM artist made his way to Gulf Shores on less than 24 hour notice and put together a show featuring saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and even a Doja Cat remix for the fans. An impressive feat to pull off, both for GRiZ as well as Hangout Music Festival.
Halsey's night-closing show was not going to be overshadowed however, with the rock star filling the night with throwback hits as well as songs from her latest album, If I Can't Have Love, I want Power. With full control of the crowd, Halsey had no issues getting people to dance and mosh to her performance. An artist at heart, Halsey even did a live painting during her set.
Hangout narrowly avoided more weather delays, but double red flags did shut down the beach access for the day. Hangout's crews worked tirelessly to reinforce the festival grounds against the rising tide, construction a sand wall along the perimeter to protect attendees.
Mobile native and emcee Flo Milli got the crowd going wild at the Boom stage early in the day. One of several Alabama artists on the lineup, Hangout hasn't hesitated to bring locals to town and put them on the big stage.
Some of WEGL's favorite performances included Vestavia natives Moon Taxi, rising indie star beabadoobee, and Boom stage closer, Madeon. Day two arguably featured the best roster of EDM artists of the weekend, between GRiZ and Illenium headlining and Madeon, Ship Wrek, and Madds also on the bill.
EDM duo Ship Wrek and rockers Moon Taxi performed for Hangout's VIPs. With special viewing areas, food and beverages, exclusive amenities, and more, the VIPs were well taken care of.
Hangout Music Festival has just one more day of beach front music left. Tame Impala, Megan Thee Stallion, The head and the Heart, and Auburn's own The Brook & The Bluff are set to perform.
