Auburn Volleyball hosts LSU In A Battle Of The Tigers On Friday Night

AUBURN, AL –– The Auburn Tigers Volleyball team (12-8) is set to host the LSU Tigers (9-12) on Friday night in Auburn Arena. This is the only matchup between the two schools all season.

Auburn is returning home from a two game road trip to Athens last Thursday and Friday night, where they split the series 1-1 with the Georgia Bulldogs. The Tigers won the first match against the Bulldogs in quick fashion, picking up a sweep 3-0. The next day though, Auburn struggled to find a rhythm and let Georgia turn right around and sweep them 3-0.

For LSU, the Tigers are coming off a split series in the SEC as well. The Tigers hosted the Tennesee Volunteers last Saturday and Sunday. Tennessee won the first match 3-2, and then LSU came back the next day to sweep the Volunteers 3-0.

Auburn looks to build on its winning season so far, and improve its 4-6 conference record. LSU looks to add another win to its conference record of 5-7.

Auburn senior Tatum Shipes is on the verge of breaking an Auburn record on Friday night. She is just three blocks away from breaking the program's all-time single season blocks record. This record was previously set by Camila Jersonsky with 119 back in 2012.

The match will begin at 6:00 PM on Friday at Auburn Arena. Auburn will look to defend its 11-3 home record this season. Immediately following the volleyball match, the Auburn Men's Basketball Team will be hosting an open scrimmage that will include a dunk contest. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the arena early for the volleyball game, and stick around for the basketball scrimmage afterwards.

There will be drawings for numerous prizes in the arena on Friday night, including a 55-inch flat-screen TV.

The game will be broadcasted live at 6 p.m. CST on WEGL 91.1 FM in conjunction with the Auburn Sports Network.
