No. 11 Auburn looks to continue its strong start to the season this Thursday night in a home match against UAB.
Auburn (3-0) has opened the season with a three-match winning streak and is coming off a 2-1 away win over Troy last Thursday. Auburn’s goals came from Hannah Waesch in the 24th minute and M.E. Craven in the 32nd minute. UAB (1-3) is looking to snap its two-match losing streak after its 5-1 loss to Arizona State on Sunday.
Auburn is currently on an eight-match winning streak dating back to last season—the second longest winning streak in program history. A win against UAB would tie the program record set in 2018 with nine straight wins. Auburn’s strong play has resulted in the team being the highest ranked SEC team in the coaches’ poll.
The Tigers’ attack is headed by midfielder Anna Haddock, who leads Auburn with a team-high three goals and two assists. Haddock assisted on both of Auburn’s goals last match.
UAB’s offense is led by Stella Kiss and Laura Zemberyova. Kiss leads the Blazers with three points this season, and assisted Zemberyova on the team’s lone goal in the loss against Arizona State.
Auburn is 7-4 all time against UAB and has won seven straight matches against the Blazers. The Tigers will look to continue its success against UAB Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and the match can be heard on WEGL 91.1 FM.
