On Friday, junior guard Allen Flanagan underwent a successful procedure to repair his right Achilles after suffering non-basketball related trauma. Flanagan, who was fourth in the SEC in scoring last season, is expected to miss 12-14 weeks.
“Allen is one of our top players and top players in the SEC,” Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl said. “I’m disappointed for him but know he will do everything in his power to get back and lead us this season.”
In 2020, Flanagan was second in scoring for the Tigers, averaging 14.3 points per game along with 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 27 games last season. He was the SEC’s most improved scorer.
Auburn men’s basketball will open the 2021-2022 season on November 9 when Morehead State comes to Auburn Arena.
