Auburn pitcher Trace Bright won last week’s SEC Pitcher of the Week after a dominant performance against Texas A&M.
The sophomore pitched six scoreless innings against the Aggies to mark his second win of the season. It was the most innings that he as pitched in a single game so far this season, faced 22 batters. In 86 pitches, Bright only allowed three hits and two walks as the Tigers won 6-1.
Bright also started earlier that week in Plainsman Park against Alabama A&M. After allowing two runs in the top of the first inning, the Tigers ran away with the game, scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Bright kept the Bulldogs’s bats quiet for the next three innings, pitching seven strikeouts. Auburn handedly won 18-2 when the game was called during the seventh inning.
Bright currently has a 2-0 record in four appearances this season. He is averaging a 1.13 ERA and has pitched the most innings for Auburn this season with 16.0. The Montgomery native also leads the team in strikeouts with 13.
Auburn will play its next game at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Tuesday before hosting Little Rock in a three-game series.
