Signing day has always been a busy time for Auburn, and under Coach Bryan Harsin this year is no different.
Uncertainty played a major role in recruitment this year with some worried that Gus Malzahn’s firing would cost the Tigers prospects. Harsin managed to hang onto many key targets and, with the hiring of Mike Bobo, brought in some recruits from the ranks of South Carolina.
North Shore HS quarterback Dematrius Davis leads the way for offensive recruits. The four-star recruit looks to fit perfectly as a dual threat at Auburn, potentially providing competition for Bo Nix. Though Davis is considered short for his position, he is a superb passer and a 2-time state title winner in Texas.
Jarquez Hunter is a promising running back from Neshoba Central HS. The three-star was recruited by Cadillac Williams, who remained as Auburn’s running back coach after Malzahn’s departure.
Defensive coordinator Derek Mason has a tough job replacing the likes of K.J. Britt, Christian Tutt, and Anthony Schwartz, but he is facing the challenge head on.
Auburn recruited Lee Hunter, a massive four-star defensive tackle from Eight Mile. He is the number five recruit in the state of Alabama and weights an imposing 292 pounds. The Tigers also beat out the likes of Florida State, Georgia, and Alabama to sign four-star Marquis Robinson. The colossal defensive tackle from Milton, Florida is another four-star recruit for the Tigers.
Auburn also picked up four-star Ahmari Harvey and three-star Juwon Gaston, both safeties, to fill out the secondary. Harvey is from Tallahassee, Florida and competed in the state 2A track and field meet in the long jump. Gaston makes plays on offense and defense on the Carver HS team, which made the 6A state playoffs.
Three-star and the number two overall inside linebacker Juko Willis will also join the Tigers. Willis choose Auburn over Kentucky, Arkansas, and Kansas State. He is from Lagrange, Georgia and previously attended Independence C.C.
Even with the losses of four-stars Armoni Goodwin and Jaeden Roberts, the Tigers seem confident in who they were able to recruit.
