Auburn was defeated by South Carolina 3-0 (19-25, 13-25, 17-25) Sunday afternoon in Columbia, South Carolina. The match against South Carolina concludes Auburn’s 10-match road trip, in which the team went 5-5.
For the fourth time this season, sophomore Tatum Shipes led the Tigers with 12 kills along with eight digs. Enija Bidzane added eight kills, while both Chesney McCllelan and Jaeden Brown had three kills as well. Setter Morgan Kull aided the Auburn attack with 26 assists.
Defensively, junior libero Payton White had her 10th match of the season with double-digit digs with 10. Freshman Molly Pember provided Auburn with six digs as well.
The downfall of Auburn was the Tigers 24 errors compared to the Gamecocks only committing 9. Auburn also struggled to slow down a South Carolina attack that was led by Claire Edwards’ 10 kills and Courtney Koehler’s 17 assists.
The loss brings Auburn record to 6-7 (0-2), while South Carolina’s win improves the Gamecocks record to 9-5 (1-1).
