Auburn Soccer Wraps Up Fall Break with a Visit from the Texas A&M Aggies

The Auburn Soccer Team comes home to face the Texas A&M Aggies after a tough away match at Mississippi State. The Tigers lost after an 88th minute goal put the Bulldogs ahead 3-2.

The Tigers had a difficult game in Starkville, only having 2 shots on goal in a heated back and forth match. Going down in the 22nd minute, the Tigers answered with a goal from Bri Folds, their leading goal scorer with 6 on the season, to make it 1-1 just minutes later. The intensity only grew in the 2nd half when Jessie Gerow, with an assist from Hailey Whitaker, managed to put Auburn up in the 58th minute. In the end, Mississippi State, with their 7 shots in the second half, managed to edge themselves over the Tigers with a brace from MaKayla Waldner.

Auburn’s player to watch tomorrow is midfielder Kori Locksley. The Redshirt Sophomore from Silver Spring, Maryland has scored in her last two home matches, both of which were against SEC opponents. Tomorrow, she will be looking to continue that streak, and add to her 2 goals on the season.

Texas A&M are unbeaten in SEC West play so far this season with wins against Mississippi State and LSU. The Aggies are coming off a 1-1 draw against Alabama, having gone the distance in overtime. With the result, A&M have now gone 10 matches unbeaten at home.

Texas A&M’s player to watch tomorrow is Ásdís Halldórsdóttir. The Icelandic international had 4 shots in her last game, 3 of which were on target. Halldórsdóttir is looking to add to her tally of 4 goals this season, the last time she scored was against Kentucky on September 26th.

This match will be the 4th time the teams face each other on Auburn’s turf in SEC play. Auburn have not won at A&M, being 0-4 in college station, but have won the last two times the Aggies have visited by a margin of 3 goals to 0.

Auburn will host Texas A&M Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. CT live on WEGL 91.1 FM or weglfm.com.
