Auburn continued their winning momentum at home with a convincing 3-0 victory over Troy on a warm Sunday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
The first half started off with a bang, as Auburn freshman midfielder Sydney Richards found the back of the net in the fifth minute to score the first goal of the game.
The Tigers continued to attack the Trojans defense, and Richards connected once again with a goal in the 27th minute to extend the lead to 2-0.
Troy tried to turn up the defensive intensity, but this only led to a foul being called against them, resulting in an Auburn penalty kick.
Reliable senior midfielder Bri Folds converted the penalty kick in the 32nd minute, striking the ball to the back left corner of the net to increase Auburn’s lead to 3-0.
Auburn stayed aggressive coming out of the half, and continued to put pressure on Troy’s defense.
With a comfortable lead, the Tigers were able to play much more freely and control the clock with each possession.
As the buzzer sounded, Auburn was able to breathe a sigh of relief after another home win.
Next up for the Tigers (3-2-0) on this homestand is a matchup against Southern Miss Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The game can be heard on WEGL 91.1 FM.
