Never camped at a music festival before? We can help you prep for a great camping experience for this year’s Infamous Imagine Festival!
Imagine festival has several great options for camping including VIP, Group Camping, and RV Hookups. The cheapest option is $99 for a 3 day 20’ x 20’ camping space with access to the silent disco afterparty, workshops & yoga classes, special craft & food area, and showers/restroom facility with plumbing.
Camping Tips:
1. As much as you think you’re going to feel up to preparing food before and after each day, chances are you won’t be and you’ll end up with a ton of ingredients to lug back home. Plus, those extra hours of sleep or time with friends is indispensable. Consider preparing your meals ahead of time! Yogurt with granola and fruit or homemade muffins are quick, easy, and cheap breakfast alternatives that will fare well in a cooler. Premade wraps or cold salads are awesome for both a healthy and hardy lunch or as a quick snack you can walk to the fest with. If you’re feeling fancy, you could even bring ingredients to make sandwiches! Lots of camping festivals are lax when it comes to what you bring into the festival grounds – especially when it comes to snacks. Clif bars, clementines, and fruit gummies are some of my favorite go-to snacks in between running to the next set or when that spot on the rail is too good to give up.
2. Freeze some bottles of water and put them in the bottom of the cooler with your ice to help cut down on all the floating water once your ice melts while having cold water at your campsite! This will be super refreshing since usually the water you’re drinking throughout the day isn’t always super cold.
3. If you have access to a canopy or foldable chairs, bring one! The shade it provides paired with a few sheets or tapestries will give you a sense of privacy while gracing you with some time out of the sun that will inevitably burn and wear you out. Plus, you can put your cooler under it so it doesn’t get super hot in your car or leave condensation inside of your tent. Canopies are also a great way starting point for decorating your campsite! Some tapestries paired with some solar powered lights or candles can create a perfect chill spot after those late night sets.
4. Prepare for all kinds of weather! Be sure to bring extra blankets and socks for cold nights and face wipes and sandals for hot days. Plus, having extra socks is a great idea in general. Even though it may be scorching during the day, the wind chill at night can keep you up for hours if you aren’t prepared for it.
General Tips:
1. DO NOT FORGET SUNSCREEN! Even if you’re one of those people who normally doesn’t have to use sunscreen, it’s always a good idea to put some on during the peak sun intensity hours of 10 am to 4 pm. You wouldn’t want to get burnt on the first day and suffer for the rest of the weekend.
2. Invest in a hydration pack! Chances are you will end up using it for more than just a festival. There are tons of brands and designs to choose from. Plus, you’ll have somewhere to hold any knickknacks you bring in or find at the festival. And honestly, even if you don’t want to invest, just make sure you’re drinking enough water in general! The heat paired with you sweating can make you cranky, tired, or sick if you aren’t conscious about your water intake.
3. If you are going to a festival on the beach or somewhere where you’re going to need to take off your shoes, bring Velcro sandals! They’ll easily attach to your bag without taking up space. Plus, these shoes aren’t usually too pricy so if anything happens to them, you won’t be out a ton of money.
4. Bring face wipes into the festival when you just need a little refresher throughout the day! Just don’t forget to reapply that sunscreen!
5. Be prepared for rain! Pack a rain jacket as well as a disposable poncho in your festival backpack in case you are caught off guard.
6. If you have a smartphone, put the lineup or schedule as your lock screen so you don’t have to use data or battery life trying to pull it up every time you need to check.
7. You’re inevitably going to have to use a porta-potty at some point during the day. Consider bringing toilet paper and hand sanitizer in your bag just in case the amenities are lacking in high traffic areas.
8. Try to make new friends! You are bound to have at least one thing in common with the thousands of individuals who have all flocked to the festival you’re at. And what’s better than a bunch of new friend to boogie with?
And most importantly, have a great time! Each experience is what you make of it. Don’t stress the minor things and just enjoy quality time dancin’ with your favorite friends, jammin’ to your favorite bands, and gettin’ down in your favorite place.
