When the Auburn Soccer Team takes the field Friday night, it will be their third straight game at home. The team is coming off of back to back wins against out of conference competition, Syracuse and Troy. The Tigers posted shutouts in both contests, outscoring their opponents 5-0.
This meeting will be only the second time ever that these two teams have played. Auburn won the first ever meeting between the two programs on September 22, 2013, 6-0.
Last Sunday evening against Troy, Auburn outshot the Trojans 18-4, with 11 of those shots being on goal. The Tigers won the game 3-0, with two goals coming from Freshman Sydney Richards. These two goals were the first of her young career at Auburn. Defensively, Auburn allowed only four total shots, with two of those coming on goal. Kate Hart had both saves on the evening.
Southern Miss is also coming off of back to back wins, including an 8-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State. Southern Miss had a total of 36 shots in that contest, and only allowing one shot by their opponent through the entire match.
Senior Bri Folds will look to shine in Friday nights game, as she was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honorable mention. She is Auburn's leading scorer for the season with four goals.
