The Auburn Men’s Basketball team crushed the Saint Peter’s Peacocks at home Wednesday night 99-49. The Tigers showed no sign of turning down the heat following their performance at the Maui Invitational tournament last week.
Shots were hot for both guards and big men. Bryce Brown and Anfernee McLemore finished the game with 19 points, McLemore having five rebounds, and each with three three-pointers.
Austin Wiley came out with 16 points and nine rebounds. The 6-foot-11 center also contributed three blocks.
The initial 13-point run to start off the game set the momentum for the home team. McLemore rolled in with nine points in the first four minutes of the game.
Three’s from Malik Dunbar and Bryce Brown fell from the beginning, with nine and 10 points respectively in the first half. Dunbar closed the first half of the game with a three-pointer putting the Tigers up 51-23.
McLemore opened up the second half with a three assisted by Chuma Okeke. The team racked up an astounding 25 assists throughout the game. Spot-on passes and assists displayed the cohesiveness of head coach Bruce Pearl’s No. 8 basketball team.
The Auburn players have put on a promising start to the season, having won against Arizona and Xavier last week and having a 6-1 record overall with a loss to No. 1 Duke.
The Tigers will continue playing at home for their next two games. The team will take on UNC-Asheville on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The game will be aired on SEC Network at 7 p.m. CT. Following, Auburn will play the Dayton Flyers on Dec. 8 at home before returning to the road.
