In the hearts and minds of the people of Cleveland no one will ever replace the great Lebron James and the sports figure of the city. Even though he has moved on to the bright lights of Hollywood, Lebron James is still very much associated with the city of Cleveland even after the city took down the famous Lebron poster that once hung across from Quicken Loans Arena.
Most people would agree that it would take athletic performances that were unrivaled in skill and performance to even come close to matching Lebron’s in Cleveland much less be mentioned to possibly get their picture placed where the King’s once was. Some people however only think it takes one half of a football game against a subpar team.
That’s right after coming in off the bench and leading the Browns to their first victory in two years some people want Baker Mayfield’s picture to replace Lebron’s on the wall facing the Q. This is by far one of the most ridiculous things that this sportscaster has ever heard. One half of football does not and will never be equal to all that Lebron has done to earn him that spot.
Just because his picture is gone does not mean that it should be replaced especially by a quarterback who has played one half of a football game against a bad New York Jets team. If you need further evidence just look at his follow up performance against the Oakland Raiders. A two-interception game and he looked bad the rest of the game.
I will give him credit, if he did not play well in the 2nd half against the Jets, the Browns would still be looking for their first win. But let’s get real people, one half of decent basketball is not what got Lebron that spot and nor should it be that way for Baker. If he wants to even have a remote chance of getting on that wall he has years of elite football ahead of him. If it took one half of decent football to get you immortalized like that Denver would be building a statue of Tim Tebow and Blake Bortles would have the stadium in Jacksonville named after him by now.
So, don’t tell me that Baker Mayfield deserves to be on that wall. There is one man and one man only that deserves that, and he is currently having dinner with Magic Johnson and Jack Nicholson in Beverly Hills. Now go win some more football games and GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
